The caption to this framed photograph reads: Opening of New Town Hall, Oswestry 1892 (1893) Police Contingent led on horseback by Superintendent John LANGFORD who served in Shropshire Constabulary 1870-1896. He died after being injured following the arrest of a felon on The Horsemarket, Oswestry. The original photograph was donated to Shrewsbury Police by Inspector John Langford, Superintendent Langford’s grandson.
