“Can I just correct one of the straplines, that to photo OSW-NM-19-49 which states that the village railway station closed in 1960 based on the Advertiser cutting. This was in fact the cross country line which found its way to various North Shropshire towns, Shrewsbury and Stoke on Trent. This gave it the name of the Potts line.
The main station closed as a result of Beeching, in about February 1965. I remember going on a Sunday School trip by train to Aberystwyth in the early 60’s but know that it had closed before I started secondary school in Oswestry in September 1965. I well remember the trains passing to the rear of my primary school at Carreghofa”
